Going Places South West LTD is a small Plymouth based company providing activities around the local area using Dartmoor and local estuaries. It is also great for introductions into activities. A kind of 'try before you buy!'

I advertise on the Facebook page as well as on this site. Activities for each month can be viewed by following the link at the top of the home page or on Facebook.

I can also take you on trips by arrangement.

Activities are great for an individual, organisation, workplace, a group of friends or a family.

Mental and physical wellbeing is now, more than any time, of great importance. I haven't got all the answers but I know being outdoors with nature and being active helps. See the bit about me below.

The outdoors is the place to be. Get away from it all for a while. Try new activities on and off the water, in the woods or on the moor.

You may even discover new friends, a new hobby or interest. You will see lots of fantastic scenery and lots of wildlife.

I am Going Places South West Ltd.

A bit about me..

Ex army. I left after 13 years in 2000 following life changing injuries I received in a serious motorcycle accident. The injuries also prevented me from following a career outside the army in the emergency services. I was gutted.

I have suffered as a result with mental health problems and still struggle on occasions to this day.

I was told I would not be able to do as much physically as I had degenerating injuries. I was thankful for NHS doctors, nurses and physio's who had helped me on the way. Not to be deterred and motivated by chosen role models I came up with a plan. I worked and trained hard to take part in a couple of sprint and Olympic triathlons before completing a half Ironman. I then completed two full Ironman events, one in Bolton, England, and the other in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Epic and emotional experiences!

In 2003 I started working in a local Secondary School in the North of Plymouth. Whilst working in school I organised and enjoyed taking part in various outdoor expeditions and activities. In 2019 I decided to leave my role within school and pursue the opportunity of working for myself. I completed an Outdoor Instructors course and here I am today. I am still employed at the school as the Duke of Edinburgh Manager and Trainer.

From my experiences I haven't got all the answers but I know being outdoors with nature and being active helps calm your mind for a few hours. It may also help you. You will not know if you do not try.

I look forward to meeting you and will try my best for you to enjoy your time in the outdoors.
